Theresianer

Based in Nervesa della Battaglia (Treviso), passionately promotes a winning combination: respect for tradition and modern organization methods. This strategy has rewarded the company with growing market success and prestigious international awards, while revitalizing a brewing culture that has existed in Trieste for more than two hundred years. The company’s name is taken from that of a famous brewery that was founded in the “Borgo Teresiano” district of the city in 1766, when Empress Maria Theresa of Austria transformed the small fishing village into the most important maritime trade centre of the Habsburg Empire.  The Theresianer Brewery, established through the entrepreneurial skill of Martino Zanetti and guided by the invaluable knowledge of the best master brewers, has been producing high-quality beer in the finest Central-European tradition since 2000.

CLARITY AND CONSISTENCY: THE IMPORTANCE OF DECISIONS

Offering a selection of unique products that will attract the interest of connoisseurs requires precise production and distribution decisions – using excellent ingredients is the first requirement. Theresianer scrupulously follows the “Purity Law”, which ensures the authenticity of beer and is the oldest food law that is still in effect. Promulgated by Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria in 1516, it states that the only ingredients permitted in the production of German beer are barley or wheat malt, hops and water. Yeast, which was not used at that time, was later added to this list of ingredients.

Theresianer IPA

The story unfolds with an intense hoppiness that intertwines with floral and citrus nuances. The beer has a distinct bitterness that fades to reveal its balanced body. A beer for connoisseurs and aficionados. India Pale Ale is named after those famous ales that, beginning in the seventeenth century, were loaded on ships headed for India. Since the ships had to cross the equator and there was no refrigeration of any type on board, the Pale Ale destined for India had a higher alcohol content and was made with a generous measure of hops, enabling it to better withstand long voyages. In revisiting this beer style, Theresianer Master Brewers chose to emulate the magnificent and traditional intense hoppiness. When combined with long aging, the result is a surprising aroma with floral and citrus nuances, and a distinct bitterness that fades to leave the impression of a nicely balanced body. TYPE: India Pale Ale,  ALCOHOL CONTENT: 5.8 %,  DEGREES PLATO: 14.7,  TYPE OF YEAST: Saccharomyces Cerevisiae,  TYPE OF FERMENTATION: “top”, BITTER SUBSTANCES MG/L: 45,  WORT PRODUCTION METHOD: Steeping,  AGING: At least 8 weeks,  COLOUR: Dark amber with orange highlights,  APPEARANCE: Naturally cloudy because it is unfiltered,  AROMA: Intense, aromatic, spicy,  TASTE: Distinct, rich, complex,  SERVING TEMPERATURE: 9 – 11°C

The very name conveys both the unmistakeable character of the best Hausbrandt coffee and the impressive history of Theresianer beer. Together, they delicately intertwine in a perfect flavour created from carefully selected dark malts. On the palate, it offers all of the characteristics of a great stout beer: an Anglo-Saxon temperament, a decisive flavour, and an unmistakable personality. Naturally, such a beer can only be the achievement of master brewers, who use one of Hausbrandt’s most outstanding blends as an ingredient and skilfully brew the beer according to the best Theresianer tradition. The result is a beer that delights the eye with its characteristic deep ebony colour, and captivates the nose with its aroma of roasted coffee that intermingles with scents of cocoa, hazelnut and cappuccino, as well as pleasantly spicy notes. A beer that leaves a lasting impression, it features a delicate, smooth and well-bodied flavour with unique coffee notes and bittersweet nuances.
